Configuring the Preferred Audio Device For Use By MiCollab (MS Windows)

Setting the Default Communication Device

 

MiCollab will use your device’s Default Communication Device for audio. You can see which device your MiCollab Softphone is using by clicking on the cog icon as shown below:

The MS Windows Default Communication Device can be changed as follows:

  1. Open the Control Panel by clicking the Windows Start button and typing Control Panel, then click on Control Panel:
       2. In the Control Panel, ensure Small icons is selected then click on Sounds
       3. Right-click on the desired device and select Set as Default Communication Device:
       4. Confirm the correct device is used in MiCollab:

Removing Exclusive Use

 

On some occasion, applications like Microsoft Teams can take exclusive use of an audio device (headset) preventing it being used by other applications, including the MiCollab Softphone.

This can be resolved with the following steps:

  1. Open the Control Panel and Sounds as described in Steps 1 – 3 above. Right-click on the required audio device and select Properties:

 

       2. In the Advanced tab, ensure that Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device is unticked:
