ATP Safe attachments

Provides zero-day protection to safeguard your messages, by checking email attachments for malicious content, which was previously unknown to standard anti-virus software. If no suspicious activity is found, the message is delivered to the mailbox.

What to expect.
External emails arriving at Queen Mary may take up to 5 minutes to be scanned and delivered to your mailbox.

ATP Safe links

Provides time-of-click verification of URLs in emails messages. Protection is ongoing, links are scanned for each click: safe links remain accessible and malicious links are dynamically blocked.

What to expect.

External emails containing links (URLs) will have the original link replaced with a “safe link”.
If you’re using a modern email client and HTML formatted email, you will still see the original link in the message.

Please note that emails sent internally will not have URLs rewritten into safe links. Also, all URLS within the *.qmul.ac.uk namespace have been whitelisted.

ATP Safe Links protection works both on and away from the Queen Mary network.

Example 1 – HTML formatted URL

Example 2 – HTML email with a clear URL

Example 3 – plain text email

What happens when I click on a link?

If the URL is considered safe, you will seamlessly be taken to your desired website.

If the URL is considered not safe, you will see the following warning page, and you will not be able to access the website.

ATP Anti-phishing

Detects attempts to impersonate your users and custom domains. It applies machine learning models and advanced impersonation-detection algorithms to avert phishing attacks.

Emails which are suspected impersonations, will be delivered to the Junk folder and will contain warning “mail tips”.
