Password Management

Password Reset Manager (PRM) is a secure service that allows you to manage your own QM password 24/7 from anywhere in the world without having to contact the IT Help Desk.

Most networked IT services, including Office 365 email, student service PCs and the 'eduroam' wi-fi network, use the same QM password. Therefore, when you change your password in PRM for one of these services, your password will automatically change for all the others.

The first time you log into PRM, you will need to create your security questions and answers profile. You will then be able to use these to retrieve your password if you forget it later on or want to change it.

If you have any problems or need assistance setting your password, please call the IT Help Desk on +44 (0)20 7882 8888 or email its-helpdesk@qmul.ac.uk.

Setting up your profile for the first time in Password Reset Manager (PRM)

    • Select two questions from the drop down menu.
Tip: Pick questions that are easy for you to remember and hard for others to guess.
    • Create two of your own personal questions.
Tip: Pick a question that can't be answered through research or readily available on sites such as Facebook (eg avoid your date of birth, your first or last name, phone number etc).
    • Choose your memorable (verification) word.
Tip: Your memorable word needs to be something you will recall over a long period of time without prompting.
  6. Click 'Next' when ready to submit your questions and answers. An error message may appear if you do not meet the policy requirements outlined on the page.
  7. Once you have set your security questions click the 'Go to homepage' link. You are now ready to start using PRM to manage your QM password.
  8. To close Password Reset Manager, please click on your name at the top of the screen and 'Change user' or simply close the browser.
