Managing IMAP Mailboxes with Pegasus |
Using IMAP, the New Mail folder you are used to in a POP3 set-up will no longer receive mail but it will still be there so you can take care of any older messages you may still have. The usual Pegasus screen looks like this:
In the Folders list on the left, you will see two Mail 'Trays'. The first is called My mailbox, and this contains all of the folders from your previous POP3 account. Any messages you have saved are still there, and can be moved on to the server if needed. Simply click on a message to select it, then click on the Move button, and select one of your IMAP folders to move it to. The second tray represents the IMAP profile you have just created and shows your IMAP folders. To create a new folder here, click on your profile name to select it, then click the "New" button, select "Folder", and give it a name. To view the contents of any folder, click on it once to select it, then click "Open" to view the list of messages inside. The default folder for all of your new messages will appear as "New or unread mail (INBOX)". Just open this folder as above to view your new mail messages. Unable to delete messages when over quota? If you find that you cannot delete any messages to free up space when you have exceded your space qouta, it may be because you have some options set that preserve deleted messages. Look in: Tools > Options > General Settings > Basic Settings and uncheck the option 'Preserve deleted messages until Pegasus Mail Closes' and Tools > Options > General Settings > Advanced Settings and uncheck 'Deleted messages folder persists between sessions' Pegasus HelpPegasus has a full Help system and you are advised to read the section on "IMAP, and working with IMAP folders".
